El Salvador

It was a quick pass through El Salvador.  Getting in was long but ok, getting out was fucking horrendous... but that's a story for another day.  We spent one night in Comecayo and then pushed through the next day.  We were probably in the country for less than 24 hours.  We had a beautiful lunch on the Eastern side of the country but forgot to take any pictures of the place.

6/7, waiting for paperwork to process.

Finally made it far enough to see the welcome sign
It took so long to get across that we ended up driving at night, which is never ideal.  We ended up settling on the first hotel that looked secure and it was certainly an interesting place.

We didn't realize it was just a sex den until we got to our room and saw the stripper pole.  There was a button on the wall that made music come out of the ceiling and a small doorway for the employees to pass us items without having to enter the room.  (Which is how we got the remotes for the room.)

However, the hospitality was amazing and it came with it's own garage so it was a total win.

There was not officially wifi, but the guy saw us trying to send satellite messages and he went ahead and gave us the password.  Then, because we had to sit outside to get the signal, he brought us chairs.  Later, when it began to rain, he opened another garage near the office so we could move the chairs inside and stay dry.

He also helped us get dinner... which turned out to be a cup-o-noodles and a microwaved hamburger, but it was much better than anything else we were willing to go find at that hour.

Workin' the internet.

  2. This is the most entertaining post so far. I hope you don't have to eat any more cup o' noodles or microwaved hamburgers on your trip!
