It's Still Two Wheels per Person

Brief entry for the moment...coming to you from Prudhoe Bay, I'm proud to say.

Nick juggles atop Finger Rock.

Due to some mechanical issues, we left the bikes in Fairbanks for repairs and rented an SUV for the run up to Deadhorse / Prudhoe Bay. Lots of quick decision-making and research Wednesday evening. We got it sorted, though, and hit the road this morning with hopes of making the entire run to the Arctic Ocean in a single day.

Our steed, ready to depart the motorcyclemotorcy shop.

Indeed, what Google prophesied as a 13.75-hr journey, we did in 12, including stops. We got in around 9:40 p.m. Not much here; and what is here is closed, so we've opted to slumber in the car overnight.

The last 100 miles in blowing snow.

It was an awesome drive (more on that later). And even if we happen to be in a car, we still only average 2 wheels per traveler. :)

  4. Sarah, why are you removing your comments?! lol I'll have to be quicker to catch your input!

So glad you stayed with 2 wheels per person, Ryan. We surely wouldn't want you to go excessive on number of wheels. Maybe for the blowing snow it was a better idea to be in your 4-wheel steed. Just your mother's perspective!

  5. Ah, another thought. T'would have been a mighty cold night at Deadhorse for slumber on your 2-wheeled steeds! Maybe a bit uncomfortable, too! (Where is that laughing emo with tears when ya need it!)

    1. Indeed! We were more okay with the rental cost, considering that it also became our lodging for the night. (In lieu of the $250-270 rooms in Prudhoe Bay.)
